I’ve lived in Brighton & Hove almost all my life. My parents moved here from Iran in 1977 when I was eight. After attending local schools I studied social policy and education at London University, before spending several years as a secondary school teacher.
Inspired by my own positive experiences of having acupuncture, I decided to retrain and graduated from the College of Traditional Acupuncture, Leamington Spa in 2004.
My practice is informed by many East Asian traditions, including Daoism as a philosophical approach to health and healing. On a more practical level, I’m currently learning about Japanese styles of practice, in particular the work of Manaka and incorporating these techniques in my practice.
I like to keep abreast of the latest professional developments through my involvement with the British Acupuncture Council. I’m also active in local networks, in particular the Acupuncture Childbirth Team (https://actbrighton.org.uk/), and can always liaise and refer to local colleagues if I can’t see you myself, or if I feel acupuncture is not best suited to you.
As part of nurturing my own well-being, I like to spend time with my family and friends, and enjoy having regular treatments, practising yoga, Feldenkrais, Qi gong, meditation, swimming, walking and cycling. These activities enrich my life and help me respond to challenges from a more reflective place.
